Nasarawa Sends 788 Almajiris To States Of Origin to stop the spread of the Coronavirus

The Nasarawa State Government has sent about 788 almajiri children back to their states of origin as parts of plans to stop the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.

Governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule, made the announcement on Sunday, adding that more would follow.

He said the plan to repatriate the almajiris was of good intention and not in bad motive in line with the agreement of the Northern Governors Forum.

The move comes as more almajiri kids test positive for COVID-19, sparking fears that the children placed in care of Islamic scholars and, who roam freely in search of food and alms, may cause community transmission of the virus.
